M-Audio has announced shipment of the Torq Xponent integrated hardware/software DJ system. Engineered by M-Audio’s SynchroScience Design Group, the package includes the Torq DJ software and the Xponent hardware control surface that puts all that power right at your fingertips. This completely integrated system combines the features of a standard two-channel DJ mixer with the controls of a pair of DJ CD players, letting you cue, mix and scratch digital files without touching the host computer.
Of course, Torq 2.0 also provides compatibility with the M-Audio Xponent® control surface for the ultimate hands-on experience. For those who prefer the feel of traditional gear, Torq 2.0 supports vinyl and CD control out of the box—all you need are your favorite turntables or DJ CD players, a compatible audio interface, and a pair of Torq Control Vinyl or CDs (sold separately). Torq: Professional audio mixing software for DJs. Download Torq 2.0.2. Torq 1.5.2 is a free update for all Torq 1.5 customers. Existing Torq 1.5 users should uninstall Torq 1.5 or 1.5.1 before installing Torq 1.5.2. Windows users can uninstall Torq from Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Vista). It is NOT necessary to delete Torq’s preferences.
For DJ CD player-style control, the unit includes two touch-sensitive scratch wheels for scratching, speeding up and slowing down the playback of digital files. And for in-depth control over Torq, Xponent adds 64 assignable backlit buttons (including Play, Cue, Seek, Loop, Key and Sync controls), two volume sliders, eight assignable knobs for effect control and two 100mm pitch sliders. The built-in touchpad/assignable X/Y controller allows you to control your mouse or the effects in Torq.
Torq DJ software for Mac and PC automatically configures itself to work with Xponent—with every hardware control pre-mapped to its corresponding function in Torq.
Torq comes with VST plugin compatibility, and moreover it can interface with any ReWire-compatible host application. It is possible to route the output of Torq to a program like Pro Tools M-Powered or Ableton Live and explore even more performance, production and sound design possibilities.

Users can take advantage of the comprehensive Xponent interface with leading software such as Ableton Live and ReWire software. It's also geared up to act as a controller for your DAW (Digital audio Workstation).
Xponent combines the features of a standard two-channel DJ mixer with the controls of a pair of DJ CD players, letting you cue, mix and scratch digital files without touching the host computer.
The hardware is also capable of mixing external gear, such as decks and CD players. And there's a dedicated headphone output for cuing.
Torq locates and catalogues tunes (including iTunes library) into a quickly searchable database on the computer's hard drive.
CONTROL
For DJ CD player-style control, the unit includes two touch-sensitive scratch wheels for scratching, speeding up and slowing down the playback of digital files.
For in-depth control over Torq, Xponent adds 64 assignable back-lit buttons (including Play, Cue, Seek, Loop, Key and Sync controls), two volume sliders, eight assignable knobs for effect control and two 100mm pitch sliders.
A really cool feature is the built-in touchpad, which works as an assignable X/Y controller or mouse trackpad, so you never have to take your hands off the unit in the middle of a performance.
It should be easy to get up and running with Xponent because all of the hardware controls are located where you'd expect them to be.
